H.3762 - The Ride Expansion
Extends MBTA ride coverage to every town within a 25-mile radius of Boston for medical visits. Stoughton is within this radius but currently excluded from this service of the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority, this bill directly addresses this gap for seniors needing medical care
H.1936 - Haley's Law
Increased penalties and offenses for driving on a non-administrative suspended license. Named for Haley Cremer, a 20-year-old Sharon woman tragically killed by a driver with a suspended license. Included in Governor Baker's omnibus road safety legislation
H.2505 - End of Life Options
Allows a terminally ill, mentally capable adult with a prognosis of six months or less to live the option to request, obtain, and ingest medication — should they choose — to die peacefully if their suffering becomes unbearable. To receive these services the patient must be able to qualify for and meet all requirements as determined by their physician.
H.2510 - Improving Outcomes for Sudden Cardiac Arrest
Provides additional safeguards and resources for those experiencing sudden cardiac arrest. Trains 911 dispatchers in CPR so that if a caller reports someone having a heart attack, emergency services can guide the caller through CPR over the phone Implementing this requirement for dispatches enables bystanders to take potentially life-saving actions before EMTs arrive, regardless of whether or not they knew CPR beforehand
H.2509 - Emergency Prescription Medication
Creates a system to make prescription medications available immediately prior to an expected state of emergency, especially before imminent severe weather, by allowing early refills and by giving prescription delivery services the same road access as emergency vehicles This system ensures that people with prescriptions, especially seniors and those with disabilities, will not have their medication access hindered by weather emergencies.
H.1023 - Mattress Recycling Program
Establishes a mattress recycling program in which the Commonwealth collects discarded mattresses, breaks them down into parts, and recycles those parts. This act prevents mattresses from contributing to our growing landfills and creates green jobs throughout Massachusetts. Replicates the successful system already in place in California, Rhode Island, and Connecticut.
H.1019 - Reduction of Plastics
Decreases plastic waste by reducing single-use plastic bottles, containers, and disposable food ware from retail establishments, state agencies, and manufacturers. Creates a Plastics Environmental Fund that assesses and conducts reports on the effects of plastic waste.
H.1020 - Regulation of Contaminants in Water Systems
Improves the review and regulation of emerging contaminants in public water systems. Regulates substances as contaminants if they have an adverse human effect, there is a substantial likelihood of it to occur, and there is an opportunity to reduce significant health risks. Addresses the potential for adverse human health impacts from the presence of potentially toxic substances in the public water supplies through science-based processes.
H.623 - Panic Alarms in Schools
Requires all new Massachusetts public schools be equipped with panic alarms that can discreetly alert local police in an emergency These silent security mechanisms can enable emergency services to more quickly respond; in a crisis, even a few seconds can save lives.
H.672 - Suicide Prevention in Schools
Adoption of rules to require in school health care providers and educators to receive at least 2 hours of evidence based in-service suicide awareness and prevention training once every other year. Staff members subject to the training are provided with suicide prevention and identification materials for review by the local district within thirty days of being hired.
H.673 - Students' Access to Life Saving Treatments
Enables trained members of school staff (in the absence of a school nurse) to administer glucagon, a potentially life-saving treatment, to diabetic students experiencing hypoglycemia With the permission of the students' parents, this ensures that diabetic students will not be denied emergency treatments because their nurse is absent or because their school lacks full-time health staff
H.1932 - Prevention of Animal Cruelty
Regulates animal cruelty, acting in the best interests of the animal. Immediately removes an animal in an emergency situation from the animal’s present location in order to take custody of the animal if the enforcing authority has a reasonable belief that the animal is injured or in imminent danger of physical harm.
